TurboIRC ChanServ «

The TurboIRC ChanServ is a system that allows a network to automatically accept and make channel registrations/drops/modifications.

Requirements:

Windows 95/98/NT 4.0+ and an IRCX server .

Administrator account to the network . TurboIRC ChanServ must be an Administrator in the network .

The ChanServ can accept any requests from an IRCX-compatible network . It also supports the CHATCMD.EXE utility to automatically handle channels , used in Microsoft Exchange Server« .

If you run this server in your network , you can use TurboIRC ChanServ to automatically handle requests . Otherwise , TurboIRC ChanServ will keep a record of all requests and ask you if it should proceed with registration .

Configuring ChanServ

Enter the server address , port , user name , nick name , real name and password . Command is any command needed to be an Administrator in the network .

CHATCMD path holds the FULL path of CHATCMD.EXE . If you don't do this , you won't be able to automatically handle requests from users .

If "Allow users to register channels" is selected , the user can use the REGISTER and DROP commands ( see below , dialog with ChanServ ) . If not , the user is only able to MODIFY a registered channel

Reconnect on failure causes the TurboIRC ChanServ to reconnect to the network after a failure

Direct Registration , enables TurboIRC ChanServ to automatically register/modify/drop channels without informing you . This feature works only with MS Exchange Server« and only if you have the CHATCMD.EXE position defined .

Allowed modes , is a list of the channel modes that a user may request for registration . Please do not add "k" and "l" modes , because these are automatically assumed , and asked from the TurboIRC ChanServ

Press Start + Save . Your ChanServ will connect and run . If all goes ok , you should see the icon in the tray . If something goes wrong , TurboIRC will restore itself and write an error message . To ensure that the ChanServ is connected , restore the window by double clicking on the icon . If shows "Running" , re-minimize the window by pressing Ctrl+H . If shows "idle" , then the connection could not be established . TurboIRC ChanServ will try forever to connect , if you have selected "Reconnect on failure/disconnection

Configuring Channels

One important thing here is that if a channel is registered outside TurboIRC , the channel cannot be modified or dropped using TurboIRC . Thats why you must create profiles for your channels in the Channel Dialog .

All of the required information is known to you as an administrator of the Chat Server . The ID member is a special keyword , used to identify the "registered owner" of the channel . This ID key will be asked whenever a user tries to MODIFY or DROP a channel .

Press "New" , to create a new channel . Press "Store" , to store information . Press "Delete" to remove a channel ( note that all these are not affecting the channel itself ; it is only removed from the TurboIRC list , but not from the Chat Server )

Request list

If you have configured the ChanServ to keep a record of the request instead of directly processing it ( with the Direct Registration set to OFF ) , each request is logged and you can view it .

Select "Register Requests" , to see all remaining register requests . If you don't agree with a parameter supplied , you may change/remove it before pressing "Register !" . If you want to reject the request , press "Drop !"

The same applies for "Drop Requests" , that request a registered channel to be dropped .

Talking with TurboIRC ChanServ

All dialogs with the ChanServ are made via a DCC connection . Almost all IRC clients , including PIRCH , mIRC , vIRC , and of course TurboIRC , are able to establish DCC connections .

Once the ChanServ accepts a DCC request , all other DCC requests are rejected until the current DCC session ends . The session ends when the user has completed the form , or if 5 minutes have elapsed .

The TurboIRC ChanServ collects useful information for the channel by the user , and either processes them directly ( if you have enabled Direct Registration , you have CHATCMD.EXE and you run Ms Exchange Server « ) , or keeps a log in files to help you view the request later .

Auto Start TurboIRC ChanServ

Once you have pressed "Save and Start" , your configuration is saved in CONFIG.INI . You can start TurboIRC ChanServ with the parameter /a ; It will auto connect to the server .

Logging TurboIRC ChanServ

TurboIRC ChanServ stores all messages it takes to LOGS.LOG for information.
